February has felt quite a reflective time of year. I guess we had January and often February can bring more cold weather and low motivation. However, there were lots of good things about February still. Pancake day was one of them…. and for Valentine’s Day I turned our home into a hotel. I made sure I decorated our space with goodies such as piano music and vegan snacks. I also cleaned and bought some easy meals for us to have over the weekend. It was really lovely. This month, I have found lots of favourites to chat about. Some foodie favourites I didn’t have to photograph (after eating them) but I still wanted to mention them here. I hope you enjoy this mix of lifestyle, food and beauty favourites blog.
FOOD…
Purely Plantain Chips
If you are looking for a healthy vegan snack that is savoury, then this is the best I have tried! I’m not normally a massive crisp fan, however, these are just so tasty! The salt level is just right, and they are so addictive! Much healthier than crisps too!
Lindt Lindor Strawberries and Cream Chocolates
I bought these over Valentine’s, and they were delicious! The white chocolate was so silky and creamy, and the strawberry flavour was divine! Definitely treat yourself to these to cheer up your week!
Marks & Spencer Plant Kitchen No-Chicken Kiev
I tried some more Plant Kitchen items recently from Marks & Spencer. I had heard great things about the No-Chicken Kiev, and it lived up to expectations and more. The garlic was so powerful in it (which I like) and the texture was so similar to that of a chicken Kiev. I preferred it to meat ones and would definitely have this again. The crumb was the best bit!
Marks & Spencer Plant Kitchen No Duck Spring Rolls
These were incredible. The flavour of the spring rolls was just spot on and I would have these without noticing the lack of meat. I think my parents would love them too!
Co-op GROW Mighty Meaty Balls
The GROW range in the Co-op is so good at the moment and I’ve found my favourite item being these mighty meaty balls. They are plant-based and yet they are so succulent. I actually think they are better than meat because the texture and flavour is just heavenly without any nasty surprises that meat sometimes brings… I just love these with a simple seasoned passata sauce and some spaghetti. So delicious!
LIFESTYLE…
Mindfulness A Practical Guide To Finding Peace In A Frantic World
I’ve just started reading this mindfulness book and it is nice to be doing something beneficial for my anxiety, in a relaxing way. It follows an eight-week programme, which is hard work, but I am hoping it will be really help me. I’m not expecting a miracle, as my anxiety is quite bad but if it helps even a little bit, this is a success.
Peaceful Piano Playlist Sheet Music
I recently wanted to get back into a little piano playing and rather than scrolling my phone I have found this so therapeutic. This book is so good, and it follows an intermediate level which is perfect for me. It uses music based on the Spotify playlist “peaceful piano”. I just love all the pieces, including one from La La Land.
BEAUTY…
Nuxe Crème Prodigieuse Boost Multi-Correction Gel Cream
I had a mini sample of this cream and it is so silky and heavenly to apply. My skin has needed the extra moisture lately and this has acted like a hydrating base before my main moisturiser. I would definitely recommend this.
Beauty Pie Plantastic Deep Nourishing Moisture Balm
I am not currently subscribed to Beauty Pie but if I was, I would buy this cream again. It’s probably one of the best night creams I have used for my face at this time of year. My skin is so dry at the moment and this just feels so comforting on the skin. It is thick but it doesn’t feel heavy. It is so soothing and hydrating. A definite thumbs up from me.
Neal’s Yard Bee Lovely Hand Cream
I’ve always got plenty of hand creams on the go and this one has been a real treat to use recently. The scent is lovely, and it sinks into my hands so nicely. You also don’t need too much so a little goes a long way (unless you are a hand cream addict like me).
