April 2018 Favourites

April has been a bit brighter in terms of the weather but also my mindset and my changes I have made to help my anxiety. I’m beginning to feel a little happier now that the days are lighter and I’m also enjoying things like my blog more again! I’ve yet again discovered some great things to talk about this month so let’s get started!

FOOD…

W.K. Kellogg No Added Sugar Granola Apricot & Pumpkin Seeds

W.K. Kellogg have recently brought out a no added sugar range and I was so happy to buy this apricot and pumpkin seeds granola. Their range promotes plant based and nutritious food and this cereal is also high in fibre and is palm oil free. It is great for a filling breakfast or after teaching snack for me!

Me Too! Ramona’s Kitchen Houmous Original

I never thought I would turn into a hummus snob… it’s just chickpeas, right? Well, when I discovered this delicious hummus there was no turning back. It really is the most creamy and pure hummus I have ever tried. The chickpeas are soaked during the cooking process and this makes a massive difference to the taste. I love the name too – it is based on the creator not wanting to be left out as a little girl so she said “me too!”.  I’ve been enjoying spreading this on rice cakes for a filling but savoury snack.

Pip & Nut Limited Addition Chocolate Coconut Hazelnut Butter

This chocolate spread is just incredible! It’s very runny but it makes the perfect porridge or smoothie bowl topper, spread on toast…. or pancakes….the options are endless! Although this spread still contains natural sugars, it is so much better for you than refined sugar versions. And the taste of the coconut and cacao is just incredible!

Bananas

I have been loving snacking on bananas and using them in smoothie bowls. I freeze them when they are ripe and then they are perfect for blending to make an ice-cold smoothie bowl or “nice cream”. They are rich in potassium and fibre and suffice my sugar craving. When we had the heat wave I made delicious acai berry bowls and that was perfect!

Seedlip Distilled Non-Alcoholic Spirits Spice 94 Aromatic

I heard about this non-alcoholic gin like tasting drink by Seedlip via social media. It sounded so fun and since trying it I really can’t tell the difference between gin or this non-alcoholic version. It’s great for gin lovers and drivers that don’t want to drink but want a more exciting mocktail. I add Fever-tree Mediterranean tonic water to my drink and it tastes amazing.

BEAUTY…

Dove Derma Spa Intensive Hand Treatment

This non-greasy, light but intensive hand cream was just what I have been needing in this changeable weather of late. I have dry and sensitive hands, and this felt luxury to use. I also adore the packaging as it looks really posh and stands up, so it looks elegant on a side table.

Lumene Glow Boost Essence

After being a little unsure of this product I have made a complete 180 and I now absolutely love it. It contains vitamin C and hyaluronic acid which means the skin gets a glow and hydrating finish. This serum contains a unique Nordic-C radiance enhancing and energising technology, so it really aids a plumper and more youthful look to the skin. I love the use of natural ingredients and it absorbs quickly into the skin. I use it before moisturiser and this works wonders on my skin.

Korres Shower gel Basil Lemon

As a treat I bought this Korres shower gel. I never realised how good their shower products were before and not only do they smell insanely good, they also foam up really well, so you don’t have to use as much. The use of aloe in the formula helps reduce ageing due to its ability to stimulate collagen in the body. This shower gel is also paraben and silicone free, mineral oil free and enriched with active plant extracts. I love this and although it is definitely a treat I think it is worth buying every now and then.

Percy & Reed Extra Hold Hairspray

This hairspray really does what it says on the packaging. It really does keep my hair in place all day! One thing I don’t like is that it sets a little crispy which makes it hard to take your hair down after but that’s a small price to pay to hair that stays put!

LIFESTYLE…

Finding Audrey Book By Sophie Kinsella

I can’t tell you how refreshing this book has been to read in the evenings. It is about a girl with anxiety and the way the author describes her thoughts are so authentic to how people with anxiety like me feel. It’s so cleverly written and so truthful! A must read!

Ravensburger Puzzle The Music Castle

I may sound like a bit of a granny here, but I have really been enjoying completing a puzzle lately. Me and my boyfriend found we talked more and had more of a sense of achievement with our evenings. It was such a fun activity to do and it really helped me distract myself from my mind daydreaming and feeling anxious.
