The classic red lip. This is a definite feature throughout December and I’ve picked 3 to talk about. You also can’t go wrong with a matching lip liner and I’ve featured 2 here that I’m enjoying at the moment. For me, I seem to prefer nudes and pinks to a bold lip but for that festive season I love looking a little more glam and sophisticated!
Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate in 51 Muse Red
The Rimmel lipsticks are just so so good! Everyone raves about them and I completely understand why. They are a total bargain drugstore lipstick and they are always a winner with me. I have a few nudes from the Kate collection and they are so creamy and long lasting. They also taste great too! This red is a bright and fun shade. It lasts so well due to the high pigment. It also fades quite nicely. I still haven’t worked out how to make a red lip last to its full potential but paired with Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Profound 57 this seems to work wonders! I love creamy and moisturising lipsticks, especially during the winter months and this lipstick is so comfortable to wear!
Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour in 1 Red Carpet
When I first bought this lipstick I found the applicator shape really hard to use as it is not rounded and quite chunky. I need every help I can get with a red lip and dread the whole messy look. However, when you use a lip brush, you can create a neat and crisp look. It is also great paired with Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Sangria as the shade is quite rusty. I love the balmy texture to this lipstick and the quality feels so premium! It lasts well too. The shade is a deep red and looks so glam when on.
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 56 Rouge Charnel
Chanel is such a luxurious brand so you can’t get any better than a Chanel red lip! I’d first like to comment on the stylish packaging…. By a click of the applicator, the lipstick is released – such a nice touch and something I haven’t seen before. I never fail to get excited to open it – simple things! The shade is so beautiful and its finish is satin soft from the shea butter and oil ingredients. Again, the colour is bright and feminine. So sophisticated for an evening or posh daytime look! The most expensive lipstick out of the bunch but worth every penny! You can see me wearing it in the photos below along with the lip liner Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Profound 57 .
Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Profound 57
I love this lip liner so much. Not only does it have a separate brush but it feels so premium and divine. There is also a handy pencil sharpener included – perfect! The pencil itself is so soft – it just glides on. The shade works so well with bright red lipsticks and you can use it to line and feather the lips to create that long-lasting base for the lipstick to sit onto. Overall I would highly recommend.
Bobbi Brown Lip Pencil in Sangria
Sangria is a more rusty toned red and suits a warmer lip. Again, it comes with a pencil sharpener and is very easy to work with. It is a little less creamy than the Chanel lip definer but it lasts well and creates a beautiful outline to prevent those reds from going astray!
What are your favourite reds during winter? Have you got any tips for a long-lasting lip during those Christmas parties?
