Week of Blogs #2 … August SourcedBox

Welcome to weekly blog number 2! Keep popping back for new posts this week. I really hope you enjoy this special week to celebrate 100 blog posts on my page!

I wasn’t sure whether to do a SourcedBox post this month. I am not being paid to post these reviews but I really enjoy receiving my SourcedBox goodies and so normally feel it is a cool post to put up as other people should be aware of how great this product is. Whilst I personally felt this box was not my favourite, there were a few items I was pleased to discover.

If you are new to SourcedBox it is a monthly subscription of healthy snacks and includes lots of hidden treasures of brands that are carefully sourced for you to create some exciting snack alternatives. It was set up by Marcus Butler and Niomi Smart who are YouTubers. You get about 10 items in each box and the surprise of waiting for what new products you are going to be introduced to is so exciting!

Here’s my thoughts…

Vanoffee Mulberries – The Raw Chocolate Company

I had never tried mulberries before and so was really intrigued by these. I’m so glad SourcedBox included these as they were so delicious! Definitely my stand out item of the box! I will be up for buying these again. They come from The Raw Chocolate Company and to be honest I love their products. I really want to try some of their other products such as the salted vanoffee hazelnut chocolate. What is so great is that all great ingredients are used like mulberries, cacao butter, lucuma, coconut sugar, cacao powder and vanilla. Cacao is the raw state of chocolate so you get more nutrients and I really love it when brands sweeten with coconut sugar instead of cane sugar. Vanoffee means vanilla and toffee I’m guessing and these are such a yummy treat it doesn’t feel healthy.

Bamboo Water – Sibberi

This bamboo water hosts zero calories and zero sugar and so it is very healthy for you! The product claims to be a natural source of silica which stimulates collagen, helping to produce glowing skin, promoting healthy hair and is naturally hydrating. This all sounds amazing to me! I drink a lot of water and it doesn’t taste much different. I think if you are into looking after your complexion and hair then this is a great product for you and replaces those sugary bottled drinks.

Verba Zing & Mint Tea – Yuyo

I’d never heard of Yuyo as a brand before and have only tried the mint tea so far but it tasted so premium compared to my  usual peppermint tea. The mint was so fresh without being overpowering. It is blended with yerba mate which is a form of caffeine. This is great for daytime when you need a bit of a pick me up. Not one to drink at night time though!

Lemon and Pistachio Protein Balls – The Protein Ball Co.

I liked these but I found I couldn’t eat a whole packet. I loved the zingy flavour of lemon and the pistachio was really creamy. A great energy kick after a gym workout for the sporty type! With dates and nuts being high energy foods, these are the perfect snack to stop cravings of chocolate and biscuit munching.

Peanut Protein Bar – Creative Nature

This snack bar was very nice but not outstanding to me. The flavours were good though and I could see this being a nice mid morning snack to give me a little energy boost. The bar includes pea protein and peanuts. The website describes it as a healthy snickers bar!

Kale Chips Baobab & Onion Flavour – Inspiral

I like Kale. I like onion. I like baobab. But altogether I found this a bit much. The flavour was so strong and this would not go down well on a date or snack at work! I like the idea of the kale chips and I think their other flavours sound really cool like their bbq flavour. Their cinnamon and cacao flavour also sounds intriguing!

Vanilla and Chia Bar – Planet Organic

I’m not a massive fan of the combination of ingredients in this bar. However, I have heard great reviews about this bar from other bloggers and so I think it depends on your tastes. It contains dates, cashew nuts, coconut, hemp protein, chia seeds and bourbon vanilla.

Lemon & Rosemary Olives – Oloves

I love this brand. I have had their olives before and I really like them. They also come in little snack friendly pouches which are really handy when on the go or for using a little handful for evening meal recipes. They are also not soaked in vinegar like a lot of jar olives and I prefer it when they are in oil like these.

Juicy Cranberries – Clearly Scrumptious

I really liked these. They didn’t taste any different to a normal cranberry but what was so great was that there was no added sugar in these. They are sweetened with apple juice instead and so this is so much healthier for you. Overall, a great brand and discovery.

Cacao & Lucuma Munchies – Raw Gorilla

I recognised the packaging and couldn’t work out where from. But then I remembered I had included them in a gift hamper for a friend. However, I hope they liked them more than I did as I was not really a fan. I think lucuma is lovely and love the combination of that and cacao. I think what I didn’t like was the sprouting sunflower and buckwheat seeds in it. I think if you like savoury tastes this is for you. And again, it is down to personal preference!

Chia Oil Capsules – Chia Bia

These are omega 3 supplement tablets. I think this product is a great idea to include but to be honest I don’t think my diet lacks omega 3.  Therefore, I don’t think I would need these in my diet? I eat a lot of fish and have a healthy balanced diet. Maybe someone can convince me that I would benefit taking these? I can imagine these would be great for vegans though and vegetarians.

If you have had SourcedBox, I’d be really interested in what you thought of the products in the comments! As I mentioned, this was my least favourite SourcedBox so far but I have got high hopes for the September box! I just love receiving unexpected surprises and new discoveries. I sadly admit that I get quite excited each time I open a new SourcedBox. I almost do a little dance…
